I’m playing with different painting mediums to try to find one that I enjoy. I am trying to paint entirely without solvents and petroleum distillates… it can be a challenge not using turp. So far I’m enjoying using walnut oil to clean my brushes and Gamblin’s solvent-free fluid medium. These are a couple studies I’ve sketched in the Foothills recently…
San Marcos Open Space 8×10″ oil
From San Marcos Pass 6×8″ oil
I just started cleaning my brushes with walnut oil a few weeks ago and I like it so far. It’s nice not freezing while I clean my brushes. 🙂
Beautiful!
I agree… and the oil left over on the brush enlivens the colors rather than the turp flattening them. Have fun painting!
Thanks!
