My family and I just got home from a wonderful camping road trip through the southwest. I made a lot of paintings along the way to share over the next few weeks.
Grand Canyon Sunset– Acrylic on Mounted Canvas– 12×24″ –$550
Two things to know about plein air painters:
- We get so absorbed in what we are doing that we don’t pay attention to other things around us… (like mile high cliffs behind us)
- We often step backwards blindly to see how the painting compares to the view.
Fortunately no painters were harmed in the making of this painting. : )
Beautiful, just remember where you are standing. It’s a lonnnnnnng drop. Glad whole family had a good vacation. Darrel is returning from his adventure in Alaska, and his motor home looks like he is bringing most of the topsoil with him.
Aunt Donna
Gorgeous painting…..I have almost stepped off the rock I was painting one once, the river was there to “catch me” but kind of wet and a bit of a drop, so I can definitely relate!
: ) Painters should maybe wear helmets in some places…

Funny! We brought a lot of topsoil and pine pollen along on our trip too.
