24×30″ acryic– This was commissioned by a friend for an anniversary present of the place where he and his wife fell in love. It was a fun place to paint, enjoy a warm drink and speculate about the future of other young couples I saw there.
Plein air lanscape paintings from Santa Barbara and beyond…

Out of curiosity, did you paint this outside? Or was this painted in your studio?
It was painted plain air… I pretty much always work outside and then touch things up later if I need to.

Thanks for the reply. I just didn’t think one could get such detail working plein air. I’m used to seeing things with quick strokes and vague detail. So I thought you must have taken a photo and painted it in your studio. I like it very much, and now I like it all the more that I know it was done on site.
We have a Coffee Cat in Scotts Valley too.
This is gorgeous! You might know they closed- The former owners should have a copy, or at least see your post if they have not already!
I was bummed to hear they were closing… I know that was a special spot for a lot of people. Thanks!
